How do I prepare the site?

There is several possibilities to prepare the site when assembling a glamping dome or house dome, or any kind of dome.

Each site is different obviously and will need to be prepared differently. Setting up a dome in a mountain site or in a flat prairie is clearly different. The climate will need to be taken into account, setting up a dome flat on the ground in a snowy environment may not be the smartest thing to do. You may need to bring an excavator to move earth and prepare the site, this excavator may also have to bring piles on which you will build your platform.
If your land is flat and not exposed to the elements, your General Contractor may have to build a foundation.

If you don’t intend to have your dome operating off the grid, you will need to think about your utilities connections

Case 1: easy set up
Do you have electricity on site ? Do you have a sewer network that you can connect to ? Can you connect to city water ? Your response to those questions will direct towards the work that will need to be performed.
Most of those tasks will need to be performed either by a general contractor or by licensed subcontractors.

Case 2: difficult set up
In this case you will probably need to hire a General contractor because a lot of coordination will be required.

Electrical connection
Your GC may need to require the electricity company to extend the electrical network (lengthy process) . If the electricity is nearby and if the local regulations authorize it, a licensed electrician may be able to create a private connection. This case will always be the quickest.

Sewer and water connection
If you don’t have access to those utilities, you will need to hire a plumber and a well specialist to
Install a septic tank, dig a well, create the plumbing network to and from the dome.

During this phase you will make sure that you have created the connection between the dome and your utilities, otherwise you will end up with a complex problem to fix.
